35~001|001 HABAKKUK` The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
35~001|001 HAVAKKUK` The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw.
35~001|002 HABAKKUK` O Lord, how long shall I cry, and you wilt not hear! even cry out to you of violence, and you wilt not save!
35~001|002 HAVAKKUK` O Lord, how long shall I cry, and you will not hear? I cry out to you Violence!, and you will not save?
35~001|003 HABAKKUK` Why dost you shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
35~001|003 HAVAKKUK` Why do you show me iniquity, and cause me to behold mischief? For destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise.
35~001|004 HABAKKUK` Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
35~001|004 HAVAKKUK` Therefore the Torah is slacked, and justice never goes forth; for the wicked surrounds the righteous; so that justice goes forth perverted.
35~001|005 HABAKKUK` Behold you among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days which you will not believe, though it be told you.
35~001|005 HAVAKKUK` Behold among the nations, and regard, and be struck with amazement; for I will perform a deed in your days, that you will not believe if told.
35~001|006 HABAKKUK` For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
35~001|006 HAVAKKUK` For, behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who shall march through the width of the land, to possess the dwelling places that are not theirs.
35~001|007 HABAKKUK` They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
35~001|007 HAVAKKUK` They are terrible and dreadful; their justice and their dignity proceed from themselves.
35~001|008 HABAKKUK` Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
35~001|008 HAVAKKUK` Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than evening wolves; and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly like a vulture hastening to devour.
35~001|009 HABAKKUK` They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
35~001|009 HAVAKKUK` They shall all come for violence; their faces set towards the east; and they shall gather captives like sand.
35~001|010 HABAKKUK` And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn to them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
35~001|010 HAVAKKUK` And they shall scoff at kings, and make sport of princes; they shall laugh at every fortress, for they heap up dust, and take it.
35~001|011 HABAKKUK` Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power to his god.
35~001|011 HAVAKKUK` Then he shall sweep by like the wind and go on, bearing his guilt; his strength is his god.
35~001|012 HABAKKUK` Art you not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, you hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, you hast established them for correction.
35~001|012 HAVAKKUK` Are you not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die, O Lord. You have ordained them as a judgment; and you, O Rock, have established them for chastisement.
35~001|013 HABAKKUK` You art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest you upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
35~001|013 HAVAKKUK` Your eyes are too pure to behold evil, you can not look on iniquity. Why do you look upon those who deal treacherously, and are silent when the wicked swallows the man more righteous than he?
35~001|014 HABAKKUK` And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
35~001|014 HAVAKKUK` And do you make men like the fishes of the sea, like the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
35~001|015 HABAKKUK` They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
35~001|015 HAVAKKUK` He brings them all up with the hook, he catches them in his net, and gathers them in his drag; therefore he rejoices and is glad.
35~001|016 HABAKKUK` Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
35~001|016 HAVAKKUK` Therefore he sacrifices to his net, and burns incense to his drag; because by them his portion is fat, and his food abundant.
35~001|017 HABAKKUK` Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
35~001|017 HAVAKKUK` Shall he therefore empty his net, and unceasingly not spare to slay the nations?
35~002|001 HABAKKUK` I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say to me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
35~002|001 HAVAKKUK` I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say to me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.
35~002|002 HABAKKUK` And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
35~002|002 HAVAKKUK` And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tablets, so that he who reads it may run.
35~002|003 HABAKKUK` For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
35~002|003 HAVAKKUK` For the vision is still for an appointed time, and it speaks concerning the end, and does not lie; though it seems slow, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not come late.
35~002|004 HABAKKUK` Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
35~002|004 HAVAKKUK` Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith.
35~002|005 HABAKKUK` You also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth to him all nations, and heapeth to him all people:
35~002|005 HAVAKKUK` And though wine is treacherous, the arrogant man shall not abide, who widens his soul like Sheol; and he, like death, cannot be satisfied; for he has gathered to himself all the nations, and collected all peoples as his own.
35~002|006 HABAKKUK` Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay!
35~002|006 HAVAKKUK` Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him who increases that which is not his! For how long? And to him who loads himself with property taken in pledge!
35~002|007 HABAKKUK` Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite you, and awake that shall vex you, and you shalt be for booties to them?
35~002|007 HAVAKKUK` Shall not your creditors rise up suddenly against you, and those awake who will make you tremble, and you shall be booty for them?
35~002|008 HABAKKUK` Because you hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil you; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
35~002|008 HAVAKKUK` Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the peoples shall plunder you; for the blood of men, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and to all who dwell in it.
35~002|009 HABAKKUK` Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil!
35~002|009 HAVAKKUK` Woe to him who gets evil gain for his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be safe from the power of evil!
35~002|010 HABAKKUK` You hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned against thy soul.
35~002|010 HAVAKKUK` You have plotted shame to your house by cutting off many peoples, and have sinned against your soul.
35~002|011 HABAKKUK` For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
35~002|011 HAVAKKUK` For the stone shall cry out from the wall, and the beam from the timber shall answer it.
35~002|012 HABAKKUK` Woe to him that builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity!
35~002|012 HAVAKKUK` Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity!
35~002|013 HABAKKUK` Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
35~002|013 HAVAKKUK` Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the peoples labor only for fire, and the nations weary themselves only for vanity?
35~002|014 HABAKKUK` For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
35~002|014 HAVAKKUK` For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.
35~002|015 HABAKKUK` Woe to him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that you mayest look on their nakedness!
35~002|015 HAVAKKUK` Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, adding your venom to it, and makes him drunken also, that you may look on their nakedness!
35~002|016 HABAKKUK` You art filled with shame for glory: drink you also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the Lord's right hand shall be turned to you, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory.
35~002|016 HAVAKKUK` You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink yourself also, and stagger; the cup of the Lord's right hand shall be turned to you, and shameful disgrace shall be on your glory.
35~002|017 HABAKKUK` For the violence of Lebanon shall cover you, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein.
35~002|017 HAVAKKUK` For the violence done to Lebanon shall cover you, and the destruction of the beasts will terrify them, because of men's blood, and for the violence to the land, to the city, and to all who dwell in it.
35~002|018 HABAKKUK` What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?
35~002|018 HAVAKKUK` What use is there in a carved idol whose maker has shaped it, a molten image, and a teacher of lies, that its maker should trust in his own work when he makes dumb idols?
35~002|019 HABAKKUK` Woe to him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
35~002|019 HAVAKKUK` Woe to him who says to the wood, Awake! To the dumb stone, Arise! Can it teach? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in it.
35~002|020 HABAKKUK` But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.
35~002|020 HAVAKKUK` But the Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.
35~003|001 HABAKKUK` A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.
35~003|001 HAVAKKUK` A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to a poem.
35~003|002 HABAKKUK` O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
35~003|002 HAVAKKUK` O Lord, I have heard your report, and I was afraid; O Lord, revive your work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
35~003|003 HABAKKUK` God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
35~003|003 HAVAKKUK` God comes from Teiman, and the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.
35~003|004 HABAKKUK` And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
35~003|004 HAVAKKUK` And his brightness is like the light; rays flash from his hand, and there is his power hidden.
35~003|005 HABAKKUK` Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.
35~003|005 HAVAKKUK` Before him goes pestilence, and burning coals go forth at his feet.
35~003|006 HABAKKUK` He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.
35~003|006 HAVAKKUK` He stands, and shakes the earth; he beholds, and causes the nations to tremble; and the everlasting mountains are dashed in pieces, the everlasting hills bow; his ways are as of old.
35~003|007 HABAKKUK` I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.
35~003|007 HAVAKKUK` I saw the tents of Kushan in affliction; and the curtains of the land of Midian trembled.
35~003|008 HABAKKUK` Was the Lord displeased against the rivers? was yours anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that you didst ride upon yours horses and thy chariots of salvation?
35~003|008 HAVAKKUK` Is the Lord displeased against the rivers? Is your anger against the rivers? Is your wrath against the sea, that you rode upon your horses, your chariots of salvation?
35~003|009 HABAKKUK` Your bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. You didst cleave the earth with rivers.
35~003|009 HAVAKKUK` Your bow is stripped naked, according to the oaths that you addressed to the tribes. Selah. You cleaved the earth with rivers.
35~003|010 HABAKKUK` The mountains saw you, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.
35~003|010 HAVAKKUK` The mountains saw you, and they trembled; the raging waters passed by; the deep uttered its voice, and lifted up its hands on high.
35~003|011 HABAKKUK` The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of yours arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.
35~003|011 HAVAKKUK` The sun and moon stood still in their habitation; at the light of your arrows as they speed, and at the shining of your glittering spear.
35~003|012 HABAKKUK` You didst march through the land in indignation, you didst thresh the heathen in anger.
35~003|012 HAVAKKUK` You marched through the land in indignation, you threshed the nations in anger.
35~003|013 HABAKKUK` You wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with yours anointed; you woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation to the neck. Selah.
35~003|013 HAVAKKUK` You come forth for the salvation of your people, for the salvation of your anointed; you have crushed the head out of the house of the wicked, uncovering it from the foundation to the neck. Selah.
35~003|014 HABAKKUK` You didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.
35~003|014 HAVAKKUK` You pierced with his own shaft the head of his warriors, who came like a stormy wind to scatter me; their rejoicing was like devouring the poor secretly.
35~003|015 HABAKKUK` You didst walk through the sea with yours horses, through the heap of great waters.
35~003|015 HAVAKKUK` You walked through the sea with your horses, through the heap of great waters.
35~003|016 HABAKKUK` When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he comes up to the people, he will invade them with his troops.
35~003|016 HAVAKKUK` When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the sound; rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled where I stand, that I should wait for the day of trouble; when he comes up against the people who invade us.
35~003|017 HABAKKUK` Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
35~003|017 HAVAKKUK` Although the fig tree shall not blossom, nor shall fruit be in the vines; the produce of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls.
35~003|018 HABAKKUK` Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
35~003|018 HAVAKKUK` Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
35~003|019 HABAKKUK` The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.
35~003|019 HAVAKKUK` The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like those of a deer, and he guides me upon my high places. To the choir master on my stringed instruments.
