31~001|001 OBADIAH` The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise you, and let us rise up against her in battle.
31~001|001 OVADYA` The vision of Obadiah. Thus says the Lord God concerning Edom; We have heard tidings from the Lord, and an ambassador has been sent among the nations, Arise! Let us rise up against her in battle!
31~001|002 OBADIAH` Behold, I have made you small among the heathen: you art greatly despised.
31~001|002 OVADYA` Behold, I will make you small among the nations; you shall be greatly despised.
31~001|003 OBADIAH` The pride of yours heart hath deceived you, you that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
31~001|003 OVADYA` The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; who said in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
31~001|004 OBADIAH` Though you exalt thyself as the eagle, and though you set thy nest among the stars, there will I bring you down, saith the Lord.
31~001|004 OVADYA` Though you soar aloft like the eagle, and though you set your nest among the stars, from there will I bring you down, says the Lord.
31~001|005 OBADIAH` If thieves came to you, if robbers by night, (how art you cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to you, would they not leave some grapes?
31~001|005 OVADYA` If thieves came to you, if robbers by night, how are you cut off!, would they not have stolen till they had enough? If the grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some grapes?
31~001|006 OBADIAH` How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!
31~001|006 OVADYA` How Esau has been pillaged! His hidden things sought out!
31~001|007 OBADIAH` All the men of thy confederacy have brought you even to the border: the men that were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under you: there is none understanding in him.
31~001|007 OVADYA` All the men of your confederacy have driven you to the border; the men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you; those who eat your bread have laid a trap under you; there is no understanding of it.
31~001|008 OBADIAH` Shall I not in that day, saith the Lord, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?
31~001|008 OVADYA` Shall I not in that day, says the Lord, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the Mount of Esau?
31~001|009 OBADIAH` And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
31~001|009 OVADYA` And your mighty men, O Teiman, shall be dismayed, so that every man from the Mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.
31~001|010 OBADIAH` For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover you, and you shalt be cut off for ever.
31~001|010 OVADYA` For your violence against your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off for ever.
31~001|011 OBADIAH` In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even you wast as one of them.
31~001|011 OVADYA` On the day that you stood aloof, on the day that strangers carried away his wealth, and foreigners entered his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, you were like one of them.
31~001|012 OBADIAH` But you shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest you have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest you have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
31~001|012 OVADYA` But you should not have looked in the day of your brother, in the day of his misfortune; nor should you have rejoiced over the people of Judah in the day of their destruction; nor should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress.
31~001|013 OBADIAH` You shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, you shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;
31~001|013 OVADYA` You should not have entered the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; nor should you have been among those who looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity.
31~001|014 OBADIAH` Neither shouldest you have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest you have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.
31~001|014 OVADYA` Nor should you have stood in the cross way, to cut off those of his who escaped; nor should you have delivered up those of his who remained in the day of distress.
31~001|015 OBADIAH` For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as you hast done, it shall be done to you: thy reward shall return upon yours own head.
31~001|015 OVADYA` For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your reward shall return upon your own head.
31~001|016 OBADIAH` For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
31~001|016 OVADYA` For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually; indeed, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.
31~001|017 OBADIAH` But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.
31~001|017 OVADYA` But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions.
31~001|018 OBADIAH` And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.
31~001|018 OVADYA` And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble, and they shall burn them and consume them; and none shall remain of the house of Esau; for the Lord has spoken it.
31~001|019 OBADIAH` And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
31~001|019 OVADYA` And they of the Negev shall possess the Mount of Esau; and they of the Shephelah the land of the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
31~001|020 OBADIAH` And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even to Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
31~001|020 OVADYA` And this exiled host of the people of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, as far as Zarephath; and the exiles of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the Negev.
31~001|021 OBADIAH` And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
31~001|021 OVADYA` And saviors shall ascend Mount Zion to judge the Mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
