33~001|001 MICAH` The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morasthite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. 33~001|001 MIKHA` The word of the Lord that came to Micah the Morashtite in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.
33~001|002 MICAH` Hear, all you people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
33~001|002 MIKHA` Hear, all you people; listen, O earth, and all that is in it; and let the Lord God be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
33~001|003 MICAH` For, behold, the Lord comes forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
33~001|003 MIKHA` For, behold, the Lord comes out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
33~001|004 MICAH` And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place.
33~001|004 MIKHA` And the mountains shall melt under him, and the valleys shall be split, like wax before the fire, and like the waters that are poured down a steep place.
33~001|005 MICAH` For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
33~001|005 MIKHA` All this is for the transgression of Jacob, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? Is it not Samaria? And what are the high places of Judah? Are they not Jerusalem?
33~001|006 MICAH` Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
33~001|006 MIKHA` Therefore I will turn Samaria into a heap of rubble in the field, and a place for planting vines; and I will pour down her stones into the valley, and I will uncover her foundations.
33~001|007 MICAH` And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
33~001|007 MIKHA` And all her carved idols shall be beaten to pieces, and all her hires shall be burned with the fire, and all her idols will I lay desolate; for she gathered them from the hire of a harlot, and to the hire of a harlot they shall return.
33~001|008 MICAH` Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls.
33~001|008 MIKHA` For this I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked; I will make a wailing like jackals, and a mourning like owls.
33~001|009 MICAH` For her wound is incurable; for it is come to Judah; he is come to the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
33~001|009 MIKHA` For her wound is incurable; for it has come to Judah; it has reached the gate of my people, to Jerusalem.
33~001|010 MICAH` Declare you it not at Gath, weep you not at all: in the house of Aphrah roll thyself in the dust.
33~001|010 MIKHA` Do not declare it in Gath! Do not weep at all! In Beth-Leaphrah roll yourself in the dust.
33~001|011 MICAH` Pass you away, you inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the mourning of Bethezel; he shall receive of you his standing.
33~001|011 MIKHA` Pass away, you inhabitant of Saphir, in nakedness and in shame; the inhabitant of Zaanan did not come forth to the mourning of Beth-HaEzel; he will take from you his standing place.
33~001|012 MICAH` For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: but evil came down from the Lord to the gate of Jerusalem.
33~001|012 MIKHA` For the inhabitant of Maroth waited anxiously for good tidings; but evil came down from the Lord to the gates of Jerusalem.
33~001|013 MICAH` O you inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the swift beast: she is the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion: for the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
33~001|013 MIKHA` O you inhabitant of Lachish, harness the chariot to the steed; she was the beginning of the sin to the daughter of Zion; for in you were found the transgressions of Israel.
33~001|014 MICAH` Therefore shalt you give presents to Moreshethgath: the houses of Achzib shall be a lie to the kings of Israel.
33~001|014 MIKHA` Therefore you shall give presents to Moresheth-Gath; the houses of Achzib shall be a deceit to the kings of Israel.
33~001|015 MICAH` Yet will I bring an heir to you, O inhabitant of Mareshah: he shall come to Adullam the glory of Israel.
33~001|015 MIKHA` Yet I will bring a heir to you, O inhabitant of Mareshah; the glory of Israel shall come to Adullam.
33~001|016 MICAH` Make you bald, and poll you for thy delicate children; enlarge thy baldness as the eagle; for they are gone into captivity from you.
33~001|016 MIKHA` Make yourself bald, and cut off your hair for the children of your delight; make your head bald like a vulture; for they shall go from you into exile.
33~002|001 MICAH` Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
33~002|001 MIKHA` Woe to those who devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning dawns, they perform it, because it is in the power of their hand.
33~002|002 MICAH` And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.
33~002|002 MIKHA` And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away; they oppress a man and his house, a man and his heritage.
33~002|003 MICAH` Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; neither shall you go haughtily: for this time is evil.
33~002|003 MIKHA` Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, against this family I devise an evil, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you go haughtily; for it will be an evil time.
33~002|004 MICAH` In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We be utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
33~002|004 MIKHA` In that day they shall take up a parable against you, and lament with a doleful lamentation, and say, We are utterly ruined; he changes the portion of my people; how he removes it from me; and divides our fields among renegades.
33~002|005 MICAH` Therefore you shalt have none that shall cast a cord by lot in the congregation of the Lord.
33~002|005 MIKHA` Therefore you shall have none to cast the line by lot in the congregation of the Lord.
33~002|006 MICAH` Prophesy you not, say they to them that prophesy: they shall not prophesy to them, that they shall not take shame.
33~002|006 MIKHA` Do not preach, thus they preach, they should not preach concerning such things; that they shall not take shame.
33~002|007 MICAH` O you that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
33~002|007 MIKHA` O you who are named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the Lord impatient? Are these his doings? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly?
33~002|008 MICAH` Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: you pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.
33~002|008 MIKHA` And against my people he raises him up as an enemy; you pull the robe from the front of the garment of those who pass by safely returning from war.
33~002|009 MICAH` The women of my people have you cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have you taken away my glory for ever.
33~002|009 MIKHA` You cast out the women of my people from their pleasant houses; you take my glory away for ever from their children.
33~002|010 MICAH` Arise you, and depart; for this is not your rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy you, even with a sore destruction.
33~002|010 MIKHA` Arise, and depart; for this is not your rest; because of its uncleanness, it shall destroy with a grievous destruction.
33~002|011 MICAH` If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
33~002|011 MIKHA` If a man, walking in wind and falsehood, would lie, saying, I will preach to you of wine and of strong drink, even he would be the preacher of this people!
33~002|012 MICAH` I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
33~002|012 MIKHA` I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of you; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together like sheep in a fold, like a flock in the midst of their pasture; they shall make a great noise because of the multitude of men.
33~002|013 MICAH` The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord on the head of them.
33~002|013 MIKHA` He who opens the breach will go up before them; they will break in and pass through the gate, and go out by it; and their king shall pass before them, and the Lord at their head.
33~003|001 MICAH` And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and you princes of the house of Israel; is it not for you to know judgment?
33~003|001 MIKHA` And I said, Hear, I beg you, O heads of Jacob, and you princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know justice?
33~003|002 MICAH` Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
33~003|002 MIKHA` You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear off their skin from them, and their flesh from off their bones.
33~003|003 MICAH` Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
33~003|003 MIKHA` Who eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as if for the pot, like meat inside the cauldron.
33~003|004 MICAH` Then shall they cry to the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
33~003|004 MIKHA` Then shall they cry to the Lord, but he will not answer them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have behaved ill in their doings.
33~003|005 MICAH` Thus saith the Lord concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
33~003|005 MIKHA` Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray; who cry Peace, when they bite with their teeth, but prepare war against him who puts nothing into their mouths.
33~003|006 MICAH` Therefore night shall be to you, that you shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark to you, that you shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
33~003|006 MIKHA` Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision; and it shall be dark to you, without divination; and the sun shall go down upon the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
33~003|007 MICAH` Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
33~003|007 MIKHA` Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded; yes, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer from God.
33~003|008 MICAH` But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord, and of judgment, and of might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
33~003|008 MIKHA` But truly I am full with power by the spirit of the Lord, and with judgment, and with might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
33~003|009 MICAH` Hear this, I pray you, you heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
33~003|009 MIKHA` Hear this, I beg you, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, who loathe justice, and pervert all equity.
33~003|010 MICAH` They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
33~003|010 MIKHA` Who build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
33~003|011 MICAH` The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the Lord, and say, Is not the Lord among us? none evil can come upon us.
33~003|011 MIKHA` Their heads judge for bribes, and their priests teach for hire, and their prophets divine for money; yet they lean upon the Lord, and say: Is not the Lord among us? No evil can come upon us!
33~003|012 MICAH` Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
33~003|012 MIKHA` Therefore, because of you, Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of rubble, and the mountain of the house like the high places of the forest.
33~004|001 MICAH` But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow to it.
33~004|001 MIKHA` But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow to it.
33~004|002 MICAH` And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
33~004|002 MIKHA` And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for Torah shall go forth from Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
33~004|003 MICAH` And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
33~004|003 MIKHA` And he shall judge between many peoples, and shall decide concerning far away strong nations; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more.
33~004|004 MICAH` But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.
33~004|004 MIKHA` But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken it.
33~004|005 MICAH` For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.
33~004|005 MIKHA` For let all people walk everyone in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.
33~004|006 MICAH` In that day, saith the Lord, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;
33~004|006 MIKHA` In that day, says the Lord, I will assemble her who limps, and I will gather her who is driven out, and her whom I have afflicted.
33~004|007 MICAH` And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the Lord shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
33~004|007 MIKHA` And I will make her who limps a remnant; and her who was cast off, a strong nation; and the Lord shall reign over them in Mount Zion from this time forth, and for ever more.
33~004|008 MICAH` And you, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
33~004|008 MIKHA` And you, O tower of the flock, the fortress of the daughter of Zion, to you shall it come, the former dominion shall come; the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.
33~004|009 MICAH` Now why dost you cry out aloud? is there no king in you? is thy counseller perished? for pangs have taken you as a woman in travail.
33~004|009 MIKHA` And why do you cry out aloud? Is there no king in you? Has your counselor perished that pangs have seized you like a woman in labor?
33~004|010 MICAH` Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt you go forth out of the city, and you shalt dwell in the field, and you shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt you be delivered; there the Lord shall redeem you from the hand of yours enemies.
33~004|010 MIKHA` Be in pain, and labor to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor; for now shall you go out of the city, and you shall dwell in the field, and you shall go to Babylon; there shall you be rescued; there the Lord shall redeem you from the hand of your enemies.
33~004|011 MICAH` Now also many nations are gathered against you, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
33~004|011 MIKHA` And now many nations are gathered against you, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eyes look upon Zion.
33~004|012 MICAH` But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
33~004|012 MIKHA` But they know not the thoughts of the Lord, nor do they understand his plan, that he has gathered them as sheaves to the threshing floor.
33~004|013 MICAH` Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make yours horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and you shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain to the Lord, and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.
33~004|013 MIKHA` Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion; for I will make your horn iron, and I will make your hoofs bronze; and you shall beat in pieces many people; and I will consecrate their gain to the Lord, and their wealth to the Lord of the whole earth.
33~004|014 MIKHA` And gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; he has laid siege against us; they shall strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
33~005|001 MICAH` Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
33~005|001 MIKHA` But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth to me, he who is to be ruler in Israel; and his origin is from ancient time, from days of old.
33~005|002 MICAH` But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
33~005|002 MIKHA` Therefore he will give them up, until the time when she who labors has brought forth; then the remnant of his brothers shall return to the people of Israel.
33~005|003 MICAH` Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel.
33~005|003 MIKHA` And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall abide; for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth.
33~005|004 MICAH` And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall stay: for now shall he be great to the ends of the earth.
33~005|004 MIKHA` And this shall be peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land; and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against seven shepherds, and eight princes of men.
33~005|005 MICAH` And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
33~005|005 MIKHA` And they shall rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod with the keen blade; thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treads inside our borders.
33~005|006 MICAH` And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he comes into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
33~005|006 MIKHA` And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people like dew from the Lord, like the showers upon the grass, that do not delay for man, nor wait for the sons of men.
33~005|007 MICAH` And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that stay not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
33~005|007 MIKHA` And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations in the midst of many peoples like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep; which, if it goes through, treads down, and tears in pieces, and no one can save.
33~005|008 MICAH` And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and tears in pieces, and none can deliver.
33~005|008 MIKHA` Your hand shall be lifted up upon your adversaries, and all your enemies shall be cut off.
33~005|009 MICAH` Thine hand shall be lifted up upon yours adversaries, and all yours enemies shall be cut off.
33~005|009 MIKHA` And it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord, that I will cut off your horses out of your midst, and I will destroy your chariots.
33~005|010 MICAH` And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of you, and I will destroy thy chariots:
33~005|010 MIKHA` And I will cut off the cities of your land, and throw down all your fortresses.
33~005|011 MICAH` And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
33~005|011 MIKHA` And I will cut off witchcraft from your hand; and you shall have no more soothsayers.
33~005|012 MICAH` And I will cut off witchcrafts out of yours hand; and you shalt have no more soothsayers:
33~005|012 MIKHA` Your carved idols also I will cut off, and your pillars from your midst; and you shall bow down no more to the work of your hands.
33~005|013 MICAH` Your graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of you; and you shalt no more worship the work of yours hands.
33~005|013 MIKHA` And I will pluck up your Asherim from your midst; and I will destroy your cities.
33~005|014 MICAH` And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of you: so will I destroy thy cities.
33~005|014 MIKHA` And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the nations, such as they have not heard.
33~005|015 MICAH` And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
33~006|001 MICAH` Hear you now what the Lord saith; Arise, contend you before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.
33~006|001 MIKHA` Hear now what the Lord said; Arise, contend before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.
33~006|002 MICAH` Hear you, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and you strong foundations of the earth: for the Lord hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.
33~006|002 MIKHA` Hear, O mountains, the Lord's controversy, and you strong foundations of the earth; for the Lord has a controversy with his people, and he will contend with Israel.
33~006|003 MICAH` O my people, what have I done to you? and wherein have I wearied you? testify against me.
33~006|003 MIKHA` O my people, what have I done to you? And in what have I wearied you? Answer me!
33~006|004 MICAH` For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of servants; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
33~006|004 MIKHA` For I brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of slavery; and I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
33~006|005 MICAH` O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal; that you may know the righteousness of the Lord.
33~006|005 MIKHA` O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab planned, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal; that you may know the righteousness of the Lord.
33~006|006 MICAH` Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?
33~006|006 MIKHA` With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with one year old calves?
33~006|007 MICAH` Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
33~006|007 MIKHA` Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
33~006|008 MICAH` He hath shewed you, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
33~006|008 MIKHA` He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, and to love loving mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
33~006|009 MICAH` The Lord's voice cries to the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear you the rod, and who hath appointed it.
